Just because Fall has arrived and the clouds are rolling in, that doesn’t mean its time to stay inside. Coming up in November there are two great local festivals that will be worth checking out all throughout Seattle.
Cloudbreak Festival
Coming back for its second year in Seattle, Cloudbreak is a unique take on the festival model by allowing anyone staying at any of the 71 participating hotels between November 1st through the 22nd to attend concerts for 185 artists across 28 venues. Cloudbreak is put on by the City of Seattle and is returning this year after the overwhelming positive feedback they received last year.
Standouts to check out for those attending this year are:
- November 2nd @ The Sunset Tavern: Peyote Ugly
- November 6th @ Madam Lou’s: Palehound
- November 9th @ Fremont Abbey Arts Center: Jenn Champion
- November 17th @ El Corazón: The Fall of Troy
- November 22nd @ Neumos: Enumclaw

Freakout Festival
The 11th annual Freakout Festival is coming back to infuse Ballard’s usually quiet streets with a mélange of psych-rock sounds over the first weekend of November. From the 1st through the 5th, non-profit music label Freakout will be taking over the Tractor Tavern, The Sunset, Conor Byrne, the Salmon Bay Eagles Club, Cafe Umbria, and the Ballard Smoke Shop. Freakout’s goal is to bring kick-ass artists, both widely known and underground, to genuine and dedicated music lovers. While the event is mostly 21+, there will be two stages at Cafe Umbria and Ballard Smoke Shop that will not only be all-ages, but FREE as well.
Notable acts to look forward to at Freakout are:
- Allah-Las: Hazy, dreamy, psych rock band out of Los Angeles. A personal favorite.
- The Gories: Detroit based garage-rock band known to put on a high energy performance.
- Levitation Room: Floaty, mellow rock just as their name suggests.
